Who does not love casseroles? They make dieting easier and best of all, they make meal planning simpler.
My family is always so eager to make casseroles coming into the winter months. After all, who wouldn’t enjoy a hot meal prepared in an oven on a cold day?
As soon as those casserole dishes are put on the dinner, everyone comes to the table. The good thing is, we are drawn to the table before I have to shout, “dinner’s ready!”
It’s hard to believe this low-carb casserole became a favorite dish for many in my household, especially with picky eaters. It’s an affordable recipe that is also simple to prepare.
You have beef, bacon and cheese all in one place. This dish is guaranteed to win!
Why You’ll Love It
When you’re looking for a no-fuss recipe to feed the whole family, look no further than this. If your family isn’t doing keto with you, don’t worry everyone will love this gluten free option.
Taste-wise, this casserole really fits the definition of a cheeseburger. It features a soothing cream and cheese filling with the flavor profiles of garlic and onion.
Ingredients
This casserole is rather simple to prepare especially as you probably possess the required seasoning. Since it has six other components that are so common, this casserole can be made again and again without any hassle. Moreover, it has just 2 net carbs per serving. YAY!
When served with lettuce, tomato, diced onions, and chopped pickles, it makes for a delicious dinner alongside some classic bacon cheeseburgers. So if you need a comfort food that’s ready within minutes, then look no further.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Meat
If you order burgers from a fast food joint, the meats served will most likely include ground beef and bacon. This is why I used those two meats in combination with each other.
While ground turkey is also an option to a meat lover, Jerry enjoyed his burgers with some ground chicken. If you want it meatless, just use some vegan bacon and ground meat to satisfy your vegetarian cravings.
Dairy
Most of the keto-friendly casserole recipes I have seen use cream cheese, however, this one does not. It uses cheddar cheese and whipping cream instead, rendering its own gooey, savory, delicious touch to the casserole.
Put any type of cheese you like in the casserole! I used mild cheddar cheese for my casserole, which I happen to like. Alternatively, you can also use pepper jack cheese to give an additional spicy kick to it.
The casserole acquires a richer taste as well as gets thickened by the heavy cream.
Eggs
Just like with every casserole, some eggs are needed to hold it all together. They are not mandatory, so this keto cheeseburger casserole will taste fine without them. Be warned though, it will not hold together quite well.

Seasonings
Feel free to use your favorite spices and seasonings in this keto casserole. To keep it classic, I used garlic, onion powder, salt, pepper and and some tomato paste.
You can replace some ingredients with your favorite burger seasoning as well!
Quick Tips
So how do you prepare a keto cheeseburger casserole? Just like that, it’s fast and simple!
start with pre-baking the bacon. Have you tried the baking bacon method? Simply place bacon in an oven and bake it until it’s nice and crisp. Not only do you get picture perfect strips of bacon, but it is also easier than frying in a pan. You don’t
Freshly grate cheese at home. . This will keep the impact of inflammation and carbohydrates at the minimum. Other than that, pre shredded cheese contains hidden carbohydrates as house siding mix where starch is added to avoid cheddar cheese shreds from clumping.
Add cheese to the keto sauce. . You are free to add the cheese into either the meat or the sauce. Personally, I stirred the cheese into the sauce last because it all is going to melt together, so why do the extra steps?
Instructions
This scrumptious bacon cheeseburger casserole is super simple to prepare. All you’d need to do is follow the steps in the recipe.
Cook The Beef: In a pan, using some olive oil (or whatever oil you prefer), and with medium-high heat, cook the ground beef in the pan. It’s important that the bacon is precooked and chopped. After that, go ahead and brown and drain your lean beef.
Make Your Sauce: Now, go ahead and mix your secret sauce, which consists of eggs, cream, and tomato paste. I prefer to add shredded cheddar cheese to the egg mixture as well so the cheese melts when the dish is being baked.
Add Meat To Baking Dish: Use a baking dish to add the ground beef mixture, then add the cooked, chopped bacon on top.
Pour On The Sauce: After that, once you’ve spread the meat in the baking pan, it is time to pour the heavy cream and tomato paste sauce on top of the beef and bacon mixture.
Top With Cheese And Bake: Last but not least, add the remaining cheddar cheese over the top of the casserole dish.
The keto cheeseburger casserole can be prepared by baking it for about 30 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. It should be removed once the top is golden brown.

Tell me your go to side dishes when serving burgers at the table. I am sure there is a keto version you can prepare!
For instance, if you have a strong affinity for french fries, try baking crunchy gluten-free green bean fries instead. They are equally satisfying with their delightful taste, but contain only 4.6g net carbs per serving.
Keto onion rings are a classic bar snack that is good for you and even more so if you are on a keto diet.
Otherwise, if you want something that is keto and very minimal in carbs, you can mock some low-carb potato salad. There is only 3g net carbs in each serving.
Let’s move on to address the questions most people ask. Many people seem to be typing these queries online so we thought it wise to cover them first.
FAQs
How many people will this casserole dish serve?
The slices are ultra satiating so it is easy to feed a big group if required. This keto cheeseburger casserole is meant to serve 12 but feel free to half or double the recipe as per your needs. If there are leftovers, they freeze easily as well!

If you fall in the low carb category, you most likely will not have bacon but feel free to leave it out of the beef mixture if that isn’t you. You can also add in a veggie if you want too! How about some broccoli?
What types of cheese would you consider using?
Blend together chunks of bleu cheese topped with Monterrey Jack and golden cured mushrooms. Mix with ground meat to make a ‘Black and Blue’ inspired casserole.
What are some ways to change the flavoring of the casserole?
This cheeseburger casserole has been left plain for my family. Why don’t you try adding a little more extra things at the table? You can add jalapenos, tomatoes, and diced pepper jack cheese for a southwest style casserole. Another great option is swiss cheese with Canadian bacon and lightly sauteed onions.
Can you use venison instead of ground beef?
You can easily replace ground beef with ground venison in your favorite recipes. I do it all the time particularly in my low-carb meals including my keto cheeseburger soup. The natural leanness of venison makes it a great choice.
